WOW WOMEN’S FILM CLUB

Cinema is powerful, women are amazing. Bring them together and wonderful things can happen. WOW Women's Film Club is a space for all women of all backgrounds to meet, relax, and get to know each other better.

Over the last 17 years WOW Women's Film Club has created a space for all women of all backgrounds to meet, relax, and get to know each other better.

Unfortunately disrupted by the pandemic, we are looking forward to reviving this very special space as soon as it is safe to bring women and their families together again. The Women's Film Club programme we have planned for 2022 includes:

Working in partnership with the Swansea Women’s Refugee and Asylum Seeker Group and the National Waterfront Museum as part of a programme attached to artist Kirstie Macleod's The Red Dress project, which provides a platform for women form around the world to tell their personal stories through embroidery.

Working with sports and grassroots, as well as diverse women's organisations we want to engage women in watching the Bangladeshi documentary Bangla Surf Girls, which has themes of women's empowerment through surfing, both online and in-cinema.

Recently we partnered with Dhaka DocLab on a proposal to the British Council which would see us commission a collaborative filmmaking exchange between Wales and Bangladesh on the theme of women's roles in building climate change resilience.
