Weāre delighted to announce that Cubanas: Mujeres en RevoluciónĀ (Cuban Women in the Revolution) will be returning to Wales this autumn for a special screening at Theatr Mwldan in CardiganĀ on Friday 5 September 2025 at 7.00pm.
This inspiring documentary by Argentine director MarĆa TorrellasĀ shines a light on the central role women played in Cubaās revolutionary struggle ā and the ways their legacy continues to shape Cuban society today. From guerrilla leaders such as Vilma EspĆn and Celia SĆ”nchez to the voices of contemporary artists, doctors, and educators, CubanasĀ is both a moving tribute to womenās courage and a celebration of their ongoing impact.

A warm return after Aberystwyth
This isnāt the first time weāve had the privilege of sharing Cubanas. Back in 2024, we worked with Cymru Cuba, UNITE Community Wales, and others to bring the film to Aberystwyth.
The screening was a tremendous success, with many people telling us how inspiring it was to see Cuban womenās voices at the forefront of history and culture, and that sense of solidarity has stayed with us ever since, so weāre really pleased to continue that journey in 2025, once again in collaboration with Cymru CubaĀ and UNITE Community Wales.
A special evening in Cardigan
This yearās screening comes with some truly exciting additions as weāll be joined by Cuban Ambassador Ismara Vargas Walter, Elin Jones AS, and we will also host a post-screening Q&A with director MarĆa Torrellas.
If you missed CubanasĀ in Aberystwyth last year, this is your chance to experience it. And if you were with us for that unforgettable evening, weād love to welcome you back to keep the conversation alive.
