Our Memory Belongs To Us (15)
Director: Rami Farah
Co-director: Signe Byrge Sørensen
Denmark/France/Palestine, 2021, 1 hour 30 minutes, subtitles
Nearly 10 years after the beginning of the Syrian revolution, three exiled activists reunite on a theatre stage in Paris. Director Rami Farah confronts the three men with their own harrowing protest footage, evoking a collective memory of life under the regime. By rekindling a traumatic past, Farah offers these citizen journalists a say in how their story is presented. Grieving the friends and country they have lost, they implore the world to bear witness and never forget what happened there... yet for them, the eternal question remains: How do you survive? By remembering or by forgetting?
