A strong, simple, funny story, this is a thoroughly entertaining film and further proof of the strength of Mexican cinema. Fed up with being mistreated by their boss and his bullying son, Jeronimo, two ranch hands hatch a plan to steal a flock of sheep and so escape their life of rural drudgery. Their brewing discontent comes to a head when Jeronimo and Jose compete for the attention of the beautiful Maria. Beautifully shot, excellently performed and directed, this revealing look at the Mexican class system makes for all round excellent entertainment.
